ShareWell is trying something new! We are introducing group-hosted sessions. There are sessions that are led by the attendees. These sessions are still in beta testing and we are continually working to improve them and seek feedback from our members. We encourage you to give it a try and let us know what you think!
What is Group-Hosted?
Group-Hosted sessions are led by the attendees. These sessions do not have a specific host, instead, ShareWell will provide an agenda and instructions for how to have a connective, peer-led discussion. The agenda and instructions will automatically pop up on your screen once the session starts. Of course, safety is always our priority, so ShareWell governs these sessions for safety.
Why Are We Launching It?
There are many reasons why we have decided to start offering group-hosted sessions.
- Group-hosted sessions allow us to expand our session offerings. Now, we can create sessions for our members without a specific host needing to post a session on that topic
- Group-hosted sessions allow peers to connect over topics regardless of host schedules. If a host can no longer make their session, it is canceled, with group-hosted sessions, we bypass this issue because no specific host is needed
- Group-hosted sessions allows for a completely non-hierarchical type of peer support, everyone comes into the session in exactly the same role: as a peer to share life experiences
Is Group-Hosted for Me?
We recommend group-hosted sessions if you are looking to connect with your peers over a shared life experience. Anyone can attend a group-hosted session, however, we do recommend attending a peer-led session first to become more familiar with ShareWell before joining your first group-hosted session.
What to Expect in a Group-Hosted Session
If you have already joined a ShareWell peer-led peer support session, then group-hosted will feel very similar with only a few main differences.
- There’s no host
- We provide an agenda for you to follow and suggestions on icebreakers and how to decide who speaks first.
- Attendees are responsible for following session rules
The rest is all the same between a group-hosted and peer-led session!
- Sessions are still 3-16 people per session
- You can still leave a review
- You have all the same safety features: blocking and reporting
- You still have the session chat
- The session rules are the same
- Sessions are either 30, 60 or 90 minutes long
- You still get the same email and text reminders
How do I Join a Group-Hosted Session?
Joining a group-hosted session is the same as a regular peer-led session. To find our group-hosted sessions, go to the session list and look for the sessions marked “Group Hosted.” Everything else is the same! Click on the session and click the Register button. You can enter the session up to 5 minutes past the session start time and you will still get text and email reminders.
Join a group-hosted peer support session today! And remember, if you have any questions or feedback, contact us at support@sharewellnow.com!
