A Call to Action on World Mental Health Awareness Day

World Mental Health Awareness Day is an annual event observed on October 10th to raise awareness about the significance of mental health and advocate for mental health-related issues worldwide. It’s a day when organizations, communities, and individuals come together to reflect on the importance of mental well-being, promote mental health awareness, and break the stigma surrounding mental health challenges.

This year, ShareWell proudly joins the global movement to make a difference in the lives of LGBTQIA+ young adults. Through our partnership with the nonprofit organization Active Minds, we are determined to provide critical mental health support to those who need it most.

Sponsoring Free Mental Health for LGBTQIA+ Youth
ShareWell has just launched a campaign, in collaboration with Active Minds, to empower LGBTQIA+ youth who face mental health challenges. These young individuals are particularly vulnerable to mental health issues due to the societal stigma, discrimination, and isolation they may experience. The statistics are alarming, with 83% reporting anxiety and a staggering 45% contemplating suicide in the past year. However, a heartbreaking 60% of LGBTQ+ youth who needed mental health care were unable to access it.

The Power of Peer Support
Research has shown that peer support is a lifeline for LGBTQ+ youth. Having a community of accepting peers significantly lowers suicide rates and fosters mental well-being. Essential peer connections provide young adults with the support and understanding they need to navigate challenges and feel less lonely.

This is why we are proud to be sponsoring 100 of these young adults with free annual ShareWell memberships with the goal of reaching 1000 in total.

If you would like to join us and make a tangible difference in the lives of LGBTQIA+ young adults, there are two ways you can help:

1) Sponsor a year of ShareWell: www.sharewellnow.com/activeminds. We will match every sponsorship, doubling your impact.

2) Upgrade to an annual plan: If you select an annual plan in the next 60 days, we’ll automatically donate a free annual membership to Active Minds.

By sponsoring a year of mental health support, you’re not only offering hope but also changing lives.

Our collective goal is to provide support to 1,000 at-risk youths, and your
contribution is a vital step toward achieving this mission.” – CeCe Cheng
